Puerto Madero 2007

I had inadvertently visited the Port the previous year when I asked a taxi driver to take me to a fine restaurant, and that turned out to be Cabana Las Lilas, one of many establishments in the refurbished port buildings along the canal. I'd had a fine steak dinner and a bottle of wine, and afterwards was drawn to the rear of the building where I first saw the bulkhead and walkway with all the lights and people bustling about. I knew then that I would return to see more of this enticing venue.

This is all about the Port!

The port buildings were once warehouses for the port that were, in the 1990s, refurbished to encompass shops restaurants and apartments. The venture has very successfully become a popular, fashionable place to go for tourists from abroad, from other south American countries and for locals too. It is a bit touristy, but the restaurants are good. If you are on a tight really budget, go to Palermo for food, and to Florida & Maipu or along Santa Fe to shop.

Visit the The Calatrava or Women's Bridge page to see more photos of this unique sculpture.

The Buquebus terminal is here functioning as a port. The river Plata lies beyond, and that is where I embarked to cross the river to Colonia, Uruguay.

The cranes have been left purely for their flavor.

It's almost always cooler by the water.

I met these beautiful women at the Spell Cafe.

This cute, talented young lady came along to entertain.
