Heraclitus of Ephesus (c.535 BC - 475 BC)
The driver was another affable, multilingual local man knowledgable about the region, the history, and the border crossing. The trip took thirty - forty-five minutes, and at the border he told us to stay in the car, and to not talk to anyone. He took our passports and entered the customs building while we waited for five or ten minutes. Once back in the car he handed us our passports with the Brazilian stamps, and we proceeded in the car up to the gate to pass over the line separating the two countries.
We moved ahead a short distance and the car stopped again, and our driver told us to get out. Oh no! There were guards standing on the side there, and some strange craziness I'd never seen before. We were instructed to walk to a small, about two feet square, rectangle of carpet on the sidewalk, and to swipe the bottoms of our footwear across the piece of carpet. We did as instructed and returned to the car. It seems that there was some problem with a bacteria or virus pestering the area, and it was commonly transmitted by the pedestrian traffic. I had just started to remark that it was odd to worry about the feet, and not the car tires when the driver pulled into another prep area which had depressions in the pavement that were filled with an inch or two of the same liquid pesticide. We continued slowly through so the tires were now safe to roll into Brazil.

Erek struck upon a deal to have a remise take us on a day trip to Iguazu Falls on the Brazil side, so we were picked up at our hotel in Iguazu, Argentina in the morning and we headed for the border.
Our to Brazil picked us up early at the hotel, transported us across the border to Brazils Iguazu National Park, and shared great information about the area & tips for touring the park. He was there waiting for us at the end of the day for our return; all for a hundred pesos.
We were dropped off at the gateway building where we paid the tax/entry fee and passed through to the other side where these open-air trolley type buses picked us up. Yes, open-air....hot, humid, tropical, but why think about cooling off before spending the day in this climate; just a dream.
This ride took about ten or fifteen minutes, and there we were left to wander off in different directions according to whim or desire. Here again, the three of us spread out a little, each taking interest in different features, taking pictures, looking at insects, plants, animals, and oh yes, the falls.
